The Gear Cutter I is responsible for operating gear-cutting machines to process parts in accordance with production schedules and instructions provided by the Gear Cutting Manager. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training in gear-cutting operations, part inspection, machine operation, and established workflow practices. In addition, the Gear Cutter I plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by performing routine cleaning and basic upkeep of floors and equipment within the gear-cutting area.
Key Responsibilities
Operate machinery to fabricate metal parts (gears).
Regularly deburr cut parts and prepare for next stage in manufacturing.
Follow all tasks, guidelines and schedules laid out by the manager.
Attend regular daily huddles.
Ensure all equipment is operated safely according to procedure.
Ensure all parts meet quality requirements and follow inspection procedures.
Ensure gear cutting area is kept clean and safe by making sure floors and exposed surfaces are kept oil free.
Work with gear Cutting Manager to go over and identify any issues relevant to gear cutting production and input data into ERP
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
Training in Gear Cutting, Machining and Programming.
Additional manufacturing process certifications are considered an asset. IE: Lean/ ASQ/ Six Sigma
Experience
Experience in a gear cutting manufacturing environment is an asset.
Experience leading others in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with shift work is an asset.
Skills
Good work ethic and leadership skills.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and best practices as laid out by the Gear Cutting Manager.
The ability to read drawings and understand drawing specifications is an asset
Must have some computer skills and knowledge.
Wage: $24 - $27 Per Hour
